Exciting dolly news :D

(This is the news I hinted at to Lulu, not the phone thing!)

Everyone knows I mooch around the marketplace too much, and from time to time I do searches for my wishlist dolls just to keep abreast of the changing market prices so I don't get ripped off in the event that I manage to actually acquire one.

So I sent a PM in about the price of a Volks Renee (my ultimate grail at around $2500 a pop) and the seller replied to me quite quickly with a nice figure of $1900 - not bad considering I was expecting over the 2k mark. I figured it wouldn't hurt to ask how long she'd take for a layaway, since it's a lot of money I can't just save up and part with all at once, and she said 3-6 months.

Well naturally on my meagre wages this is too much for me so I thanked her and thought nothing else of it.

I got a PM some time later asking me what length of layaway I'd need, and naturally so that I knew I'd be able to afford the payments I suggested something along the lines of 12 months, nice bite-sized chunks. I didn't hear anything from her for a few weeks so I guessed she'd decided this was too long and just hadn't thought to PM me back.

During this period I started a layaway for a Soom Epidos from my good friend and have managed through part trading for another of my dolls to already pay half the layaway ($500/$950) so I've only a little left to pay on him.

But a few days later I got another message asking if I'd had her previous message (I hadn't, we've had terrible trouble with DoA eating our messages it seems) and so the long and the short of it is that after many PMs back and forth, much querying and setting things down in stone I have managed to secure a layaway for my ultimate grail and I'm so excited! I'm going to pay $150 per month on the 1st of the month starting with March and she's dropped the price down to $1800 for me and included shipping too ^^ So it's a win all around! She was extremely keen to sell the doll within the EU, and I can totally understand why - it's a great expense what with insurance and all and a much bigger risk. I prefer to keep my transactions within the EU too (and I'm delighted there won't be any customs to pay on the $1800!!! 20% VAT + 4% import tax? NO THANK YOU!)

It's.... well... a RIDICULOUS sum to pay for a DOLL. But I fell in love with her instantly and there is yet to be a Renee I haven't adored and this one is particularly darling, with a cute red wig and green eyes, which are included.

Nevertheless I'm delighted, and can finally start thinking up a name and character for her. I have resisted doing this sooner because I didn't want to get too attached just in case!
